Slide Show: Introduction to CruiseControl
View the slides: Introduction to CruiseControl
Overview
Introduction to CruiseControl is a slide show that introduces the concept of Continuous Integration, and demonstrates how CruiseControl enables CI. It is intended that these slides will help CI evangelists gain understanding and support from management and colleagues.
The slides do not go into great depth, and in many cases refer to the canonical sources for futher detail. The point is to communicate the benefits of CI without getting bogged down in detail.
The printouts of the slides contain more information than is displayed on screen, including URLs to websites. It is expected that these should be given as a handout at any presentation to allow attendees to follow up details afterwards.
How to Use the Slides
- Save the slides locally. This can usually be done by right clicking on the link, and saving the link as "Web page, complete".
- Edit the HTML in a text editor, replacing the information markers with
specific information. There are three markers:
- [location/date of presentation]
- [name of presenter]
- [affiliation of presenter]
- Edit the content of the slides to suite your situation (optional).
- Prepare a demonstation of CruiseControl.
- Give the presentation.
S5: Simple Standards-Based Slide Show System
The slides were created using Eric Meyer's Simple Standards-Based Slide Show System. Eric's site has a lot of information on how to customise the theme used by the slides, and how the slides work.
S5 is a fantasic alternative to Powerpoint, using open standards and a cross-platform delivery mechanism. The slides can be editing using a simple text editor, simplying the maintence enormously.
